Flag House, Whistler, Canada

Studio MK27, a prominent Brazilian architecture firm, designed Flag House, a vacation home located in Whistler, north of Vancouver. The clients, who had previously admired Studio MK27's work in Brazil, chose them to design their new home. Studio MK27, founded by Marcio Kogan in the 1970s, is renowned for its modernist villas designed for tropical climates. Despite the different setting in Whistler, the architects applied one of their core principles: creating a strong connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.

environment of Whistler.

Flag House is designed with two distinct box-like sections, stacked on top of one another. The lower section, which is clad in dark wood, houses the entrance and a guest bedroom. This base supports the larger, upper section, which features extensive glass facades. The upper floor is cantilevered, giving it the appearance of floating above the lower section. The overall design of the house integrates well with the surrounding landscape, maintaining a low profile and blending harmoniously with the natural environment of Whistler.
